While I don't personally have a dog, I wanted to review this product because of many friends who do have dogs. One friend of ours has the greatest dog you can ask for. Really, the only dog I like as I do not care for dogs (or cats or any pet in the house). Her dog already listens really great but there are times that she wants more protection for him. Not because of him running off but because of various animals that live around them. They live on Forest Service land so bears, deer, mountain lions, and other animals make their property home. The dog has already been in a fight with a bear that was injured. That could have gone bad if the bear wasn't hurt. We went out to visit them and I brought this collar because when we go hiking on the property, she wanted to try something to do a quick shock in case an animal is present. We didn't need it at all that trip but there is now the comfort of knowing this collar will stop him without causing harm. It's high quality and fits nicely. I don't see why anyone would want a different brand as this company has always given top notch customer service.
